What does REST look like? We often think of getting 8 hours of sleep, or the luxury of a Sunday nap. But rest can also be:
- Taking 5 extra minutes in the shower, letting the warm water cascade over your body
- Mindfully sipping a hot cup of tea, breathing in the aroma while warming your hands around the mug
- Purposefully disengaging from social media and reading a book instead
- Honestly journaling your true feelings
- Doing a 10 minute Daily Calm meditation after lunch
- Taking a leisurely stroll in nature (slower than your exercise pace!)
- Praying
- Asking yourself: “what do I need right now?” and acting on the answer
- Five deep, slow breaths
- Committing to a “technology fast” one day a month
- Daydreaming
- Taking an eye-strain break from the computer by staring out a window for a few minutes
- Doing a Sun Salutation or resting in Child’s Pose
- Knitting, sewing, baking, sketching, gardening, birdwatching
- Belly laughing
- A Self-Care day (otherwise known as a Personal Retreat Day!)
